A 48-year-old farm worker, identified as Valerie LeBlanc of Memramcook East, died Sunday evening when the tractor he was operating overturned on the Woodhurst Road near the Memramcook East Road. Born at Memramcook East, he was a son of the late Edgar and Eva (Dupuis) LeBlanc.

Sackville RCMP said LeBlanc was on his way home from a friend's house after plowing a nearby field when the accident occurred. Police believe the tractor upset after striking some of the large ruts in the dirt road and fell into a deep ditch just past a wooden bridge. LeBlanc, who was alone at the time, was pinned underneath. He died of multiple injuries. RCMP estimate the time of the accident at 9 p.m. An autopsy was held Monday in Moncton, however an inquest has been ruled unnecessary. LeBlanc was employed with a large local dairy operation.

He is survived by his wife, the former Bernice Léger; three daughters, Denise, Annette and Edith, all of Memramcook East; three sisters, Mrs. Pierre LeBlanc (Bernadette) of Memramcook East, Mrs. Bella LeBlanc of St. Joseph and Mrs. Emery Léger (Emelie) of Memramcook West; three brothers, Raymond and Johnny, both of Memramcook West, and Abbey LeBlanc of Lewisville.

The body is at Dupuis' Funeral Home, Mernramcook. The funeral mass will be celebrated 7:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Memramcook East. Burial will be held in the parish cemetery.
